In the world of lo-fi, it’s easy to rip off The Wipers. While the U.K.’s Lovvers are certainly guilty of haphazard imitation, the band pushes things one step further by pumping Chuck Berry-style glee into its sputtering percussion and simple guitar work to create its wiggly garage jams. The band debuted in late 2009 with OCD Go Go Go Girls, an album where most tracks clocked in at under three minutes—which indicates the group’s approach to raw, whirlwind rock. Despite the group’s relative infancy, Lovvers has already managed to snag coveted tour spots with groups like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and, most recently, Vampire Weekend.
