Artist Lucy Michelle And The Velvet Lapelles
Twin Cities acoustic genre-hoppers Lucy Michelle And The Velvet Lapelles are back to tearing up the home circuit. A mishmash of folk, Roma, flamenco, polka, and punk, the six-piece band has attained local stalwart status over the past few years. The group has recorded steadily over that span, with its third LP—2010’s Good Of That—serving as another fine entry into an already respectable discography. Comprising scene busybodies who jump from project to project, the chemistry between Lucy and her Velvet Lapelles is a trait that’s set to endure. This spring, the group will release its new full-length, Heat, produced by Matt Boynton, who previously worked with MGMT and Beiruit. The band’s goal moving forward? Tour the hell out of the U.S., hoping to spread their infectious warmth in the process.
