Mad Caddies

Outliving most of its third-wave ska contemporaries from the mid-’90s—save for über-pop crossovers No Doubt—Mad Caddies have maintained a steady fan base with their blend of reggae, rock, swing, and even a little Dixie jazz thrown in. While lead singer Chuck Robertson has traded some of his vocal snarkiness for a more meaningful tone, the band stays true to American ska’s mantra of total goofiness, complete with lots of curling horns, lazy guitars, and rocksteady drum beats. Mad Caddies' last release was 2007’s Keep It Going, but the band is in the midst of putting together a greatest-hits record, due out in 2010.
