Madi Diaz

Nashville-based Madi Diaz has the voice of an angel, but rather than exploit that to make saccharine, slow-paced drivel, she takes a cue from Tune-Yards and other contemporaries in crafting a louder, more hard-edged sound. With her recording career just taking off, she is currently perhaps best known for her appearance in the 2005 documentary Rock School (the film that inspired Richard Linklater’s Jack Black-fueled, uncreatively titled School Of Rock). The singer-songwriter and partner in crime Kyle Ryan have made a name for themselves with past performances at SXSW and Bonnaroo, and are now touring in support of a brand-new LP, Plastic Moon.
