Mally

Minneapolis MC Mally has been steadily rising in the Twin Cities hip-hop scene since he started dropping albums back in 2007, but after a solid performance at Soundset 2011 and a nod from Slug of Atmosphere pumped up his notoriety considerably, he’s been a ubiquitous name in the Land Of 10,000 Lakes. Due to his fierce loyalty to Minnesota, he’s the kind of rapper who makes fans not only excited for hip-hop in Minneapolis and St. Paul, but excited for Midwest music in general. Paired with strong-as-steel producer The Sundance Kid, it seems the duo’s prowess is set to only grow, because everything Mally and The Sundance Kid do is done well, from Mally’s strength in flow and charismatic sing-song delivery, to Sundance’s impeccable backing and their combined energy as a live act. Their video production is deft, especially on an unsigned budget, but with new album The Last Great dropping, that unsigned status probably won’t last much longer.
