Maroon 5
It’s been about nine years since Maroon 5’s ridiculously titled It Won’t Be Soon Before Long first plagued shopping malls, department stores, and radio stations that play “the hits of the ’80s, ’90s, and today!” The lukewarm adult contemporary smash “Makes Me Wonder” earned the band a Grammy, and a devoted fan base composed of minivan-driving soccer moms and the 12-year-old girls who resent them. Maroon 5’s third album, Hands All Over, is, according to the band, “a killer hybrid of rock, pop, funk, and R&B.” For all intents and purposes, it sounds like a collection of Maroon 5 songs. Farty synths and barely there guitar lines are crooned over, and lead singer (and The Voice judge) Adam Levine continues to be swooned over.
