Matt Pond PA

Brooklyn, New York’s Matt Pond PA writes sleepy, minimalist rock, and while it’s not the most aggressively creative, it is innocuously pleasant in its straightforwardness. On last year’s The Dark Leaves, frontman/namesake Matt Pond delivers everything he’s ever promised—rainy-day ballads and sensitive-guy crooning—and not much else. Dark Leaves is a slowly paced, mostly acoustic effort with plinking pianos and understated transitions. It sounds a lot like its predecessors, which isn't at all astonishing. Pond is currently in the midst of releasing a three-part EP entitled The Threeep, which comprises three singles off The Dark Leaves; the first was released in 2009 and the third is due this year.
