Artist MC Starr

As half of duo Fall Guys, MC Starr would have every right to be bitter performing in the tremendous shadow cast by his partner and Madison hip-hop demigod DJ Pain 1. But the mutual respect Starr and Pain have for one another creates an equal creative team and easy fun, like the unnecessarily hated-on “I’m Fitted.” Starr, however, made sure to take a big step out on his own when he released the solo album, Corner Store, earlier this year. Getting solid production help from the locals like Da Ricanstrukta from Lucha Libre, Starr confidently chews up the beats and spits back boastful rhymes on “Through The Light” and dwells on local artists’ struggles on “Who’s That?”
