JD Samson may be best recognized as the mustachioed gal from electro-pop outfit Le Tigre, but those more familiar with her work know she’s a woman of many hats. Since the group’s last effort, 2004’s This Island, Samson has kept busy playing in Peaches’ touring band, co-founding a guerrilla performance art/dance troupe, and teaming back up with bandmate Johanna Fateman for the remix project MEN. (Though still involved, Fateman’s taken a back seat in MEN to Michael O’Neill and Ginger Brooks Takahashi, Sampson’s collaborators in yet another side project, Hirsute.) MEN’s 2011 debut record, Talk About Body, is flush with political calls to action, women’s studies references, and incessantly catchy electro beats.
