The current musical landscape is peppered with barely legal hit-makers, so it’s almost a novelty to come across musicians with decades of experience under their belts. Meshuggah has spent the last 25 years polishing its brand of extreme metal. The band hails from Umea, Sweden, where it has been nominated for a Swedish Grammy Award, which presumably comes stuffed with pickled herring and a few of some kind of meatball. Not only does the band please metal heads across the pond, but also Meshuggah’s 2008 album, ObZen, peaked at No. 59 on the Billboard 200, and the band’s newest release, Koloss, made it to No. 17. Meshuggah is touring North America this summer before playing nearly a dozen festivals throughout Europe.
