Artist Mewithoutyou

Philadelphia’s Mewithoutyou often comes off like a vociferous street preacher in the world of Christian hardcore—mostly due to lead ranter Aaron Weiss’ sing-speak-yell vocals and heavily thematic lyrics. The band has only gotten more spiritual over time, and latter efforts have produced an increasingly transcendent and rock-oriented sound. 2009’s mouthful It’s All Crazy! It’s All False! It’s All A Dream! It’s Alright! settled into a far folkier, mellow vibe built around acoustic guitar and strings—all the better to explore the pious musings of Sufi mystic Bawa Muhaiyaddeen. A new album, Ten Stories, was released last month.
