Mickey Avalon

When talking about Mickey Avalon, it’s easy to concentrate on his wild background, but his music is just as noteworthy, if equally tasteless. Avalon’s electro-influenced hip-hop—dubbed “glam rap”—is an apt soundtrack for the kind of partying that surrounds him, and he does an excellent job of bringing an inimitable energy to whatever stage he’s on. His 2006 self-titled debut, subsequent singles—like the Duke Nukem Forever-featured “Stroke Me” —and new LP, Loaded, sport plenty of icky-fabulous moments, but they’re all taken to the next level at his infamous shows.
