Portland’s Mimicking Birds is the home recording project of Nate Lacey, whose chiming, ghostly, finger-picked acoustic folk offers some of the same pastoral hush and campfire comforts as fellow mountaineers Fleet Foxes. Lacey has yet to release a record—he only recently put an actual band together—which raises the question of how he's garnered such a high profile already. Thank Modest Mouse’s Isaac Brock, who handpicked Lacey to open a recent tour, then signed him to his Glacial Pace imprint. It’s a loud beginning for such a peaceful artist—and it’s probably only going to get louder.
