Mindless Self Indulgence

Sometimes a group’s name says nothing about it; at other times, there’s not much else to know. The first part of Mindless Self Indulgence’s name is certainly spot-on: The New York band’s catalog includes “Bitches,” “I Hate Jimmy Page,” and “Dicks Are For My Friends,” all written and delivered by a guy named Jimmy Urine. But the group’s mix of industrial, hip-hop, and punk isn’t particularly self-indulgent—in fact, it seems aimed at pleasing the same disaffected young people drawn in by Insane Clown Posse, with whom MSI has toured. The band’s latest, Tighter, is a remastered re-release of its 1999 debut Tight.
