Mo Mandel
Mo Mandel delivers much of his stand-up in a half-yell, which means he has to get creative to reconcile his manly stage presence with the occasional riff on his Jewish heritage. He described himself as “a little bit dreidel, a little bit methamphetamine” on a 2010 Comedy Central Presents special, which just about sums it up. A bit like a younger Brian Regan, Mandel might not go for the edgiest subject matter, but attacks his material with a wild-eyed hunger. That same special also finds him commenting on the “unrealistically good” fake teeth that old folks get to put into their decrepit bodies, and disarming the immigration debate by saying Mexicans have the right to cross over as long as they don’t bring along mariachi music, which he calls “techno for people without electricity.” Last fall, he released his debut stand-up CD, The M Word.
