Mondo Generator

Mondo Generator

Launched as a studio-only side project by Nick Oliveri and Josh Homme while the two were still in Queens Of The Stone Age, Mondo Generator released two albums (Cocaine Rodeo and The Drug Problem That Never Existed) before Homme fired Oliveri from his main gig. After that, Oliveri carried the MG torch on his own—although his own personnel problems (including an incident where his band quit after Oliveri assaulted a sound guy) and the distraction of other projects often put the state of the band in question. But after a nearly three-year hiatus, Mondo Generator has a new album, Time To Destroy, slated for release this summer. The first single—a cover of Iggy Pop’s “Dog Food” featuring Dave Grohl, Happy Tom of Turbonegro, and The Fresh Prince Of Darkness from Dwarves—sets aside past drama and gets back to the sleazy fun.
