Morris Day And The Time
Prince's "rivals" The Time haven't released an album of new material since 1990, when keyboardist Jimmy Jam and bassist Terry Lewis jumped ship to concentrate on their production work. That hasn't kept funk narcissist Morris Day, ever in need of adulation, from touring off-and-on with some version or other of the Minneapolis band, but it took the 2008 Grammys to reunite the full original lineup, who joined Rihanna onstage for a medley of "Jungle Love" and "Umbrella." Now the full crew is on tour, complete with Monte Moir on keyboards, Jellybean Johnson on drums, Jesse Johnson on guitar, and, of course, Day's valet and comic foil Jerome Benton on mirror.
