Why limit yourself to one form of wackiness when there are so many to go around? This seems to be the attitude behind Denver’s Mr. Pacman. And though it isn’t the only band to ever dial its synths back to the days of NES and Galaga, it also supplements all of that by showing up in Power Ranger-like suits, singing in tortured-prettyboy voices on tunes like “Pacman Don’t Preach,” and pairing up with stiff-sounding computer-voice software on the strangely themed “David Blaine’s Erotic Mansion.” Sure, anyone can pick a weird starting point, but Mr. Pacman follows through with such admirable abandon, it’s almost disturbing.
