A.V. Club: Best of the Decade

Artist Municipal Waste

  • Municipal Waste

Richmond, Va.’s Municipal Waste is one of the groups on the forefront of the thrash revival that’s been barking around the perimeters of punk for the last few years. Drawing unfiltered inspiration from the mid-’80s metal/hardcore crossover typified by Corrosion Of Conformity and D.R.I., the group also likes to set its frenzied blasts of rage to an overarching theme: 2005’s Hazardous Mutation celebrated sci-fi and horror; 2007’s The Art Of Partying was all about the joys of getting fucked up; and the new Massive Aggressive has an Idi Amin-like obsession with death and destruction, including telltale titles like “Mech Cannibal” and “Horny For Blood.”
