A.V. Club: Best of the Decade

Artist Murder Junkies

  • The Murder Junkies, GG Allin
Punk poet and shit-smearer GG Allin shuffled off this mortal coil 16 years ago, dead of a post-show heroin overdose rather than the onstage suicide he’d always promised. But his spirit lives on, both in a small sect of disgruntled punk fans and in his former backing band, The Murder Junkies. Led by Allin’s brother Merle, The Murder Junkies replaced the irreplaceable GG with Antiseen singer Jeff Clayton and soldiered on. The frequency of arrests went down, as did the insanity level. GG’s old band—with current vocalist PP Duvay, of New York’s They Hate Us—continues to pay tribute with its own material and some classics from GG’s past, like the summertime favorite “I Kill Everything I Fuck.”
