My Brightest Diamond
Shara Worden took a year off from her own music to tour with fellow Michigander Sufjan Stevens as his chief cheerleading Illinoisemaker, but the now-New Yorker’s solo career returned in earnest with a new project, My Brightest Diamond. Her 2006 debut, Bring Me The Workhorse, comes off just as poppy, orchestrated, and weird as her former patron’s music, but her 2008 follow-up, A Thousand Shark’s Teeth, offered a bleaker, creepier expansion of Worden’s experimental, yet still beautiful, arrangements. Its latest released work is All Things Will Unwind, an album inspired by a theoretical situation: What if the sun were to burn out? (The answer to that question is that we would all die.)
