Artist Mystery Palace

After the breakup of one-time indie-cult favorites 12 Rods in 2004, founding brothers Ev and Ryan Olcott amicably went their separate ways. Ev played keyboards in Halloween, Alaska until 2008, while Ryan split time between the solo circuit-bending project Food Team and the trio Mystery Palace, which found him exploring similarly vaporous digital terrain. After gearing up in 2006 with a live EP and a single, Palace signed with Milwaukee-based Zod Records for its debut full-length, the ethereally electronic Flags Forward, a collection of slinky, beat-heavy tracks suitable both for the dance floor or chilling out afterward. The group’s latest album, Nervio, released as a free download, works in the same kind of dreamy, sedated, dance-party grooves that we’ve come to expect from the trio.
