Artist Mystery Team

Making the jump from YouTube infamy to major motion pictures is still mostly a pipe dream being smoked by countless web-based sketch groups (sorry, Whitest Kids U Know), but NYU’s Derrick Comedy may be the first to pull it off with its unusually clever, gleefully nihilistic Mystery Team. Its Encyclopedia Brown-meets-The Wire plot concerns three developmentally stunted best friends whose neighborhood detective business—normally devoted to solving crimes involving missing cats and purloined pies—is suddenly tasked with a double homicide, which means cluelessly navigating seedy strip clubs and coke dealers.
