Natty Nation
After 16 years of raising Jah, Natty Nation’s relentlessly positive message and self-described style of “hard roots rock reggae and dub” has become easy to take for granted. But the fact remains that its extensive history on stage translates to a really solid live experience, which the Madison-based band faithfully spreads almost non-stop throughout the central states. Reincarnation, Natty Nation’s most recent full-length, weaves together a tight collection of pop-minded reggae songs filled with pleasant vocals, booming beats, and tropical sunshine. Natty Nation’s take on the genre doesn’t scream “originality,” but in an often bitterly cold place like the Midwest, its warmth should come in handy.
