In Alternadad: The True Story Of One Family’s Struggle To Raise A Cool Kid In America, author Neal Pollack describes what life has been like since the birth of his son Elijah. The book took a much-debated New York Magazine article, which quoted Pollack, on “grups”—parents who cling to cultural relevance with iPods, designer jeans, and other youth accoutrements—to its logical conclusion. As parenthood tomes go, navel-gazing scenesters should eat this up (more so than Paul Reiser’s Babyhood, anyway).
