Negative Approach

Like a lot of Midwest hardcore in the early ’80s, Negative Approach sat well under the radar long after its breakup in 1983. Somehow, though, its records were heard by the right ears, and now the band is idolized not only in its hometown of Detroit, but also among the punk subculture at large. The group has toured sporadically since reuniting in 2006 for Touch And Go’s 25th anniversary, but more might be on the horizon—the band discovered tapes of unreleased tracks this year in a Detroit basement, and is planning to issue a box set.
