Artist Never Shout Never

In case the eternal optimism of his alias isn’t a tip-off, Never Shout Never’s Christofer Drew is one upbeat dude. His buoyant, occasionally ukulele-backed folk-pop—with telling song titles like “Happy” and “On The Brightside”—traffics primarily in puppy-love romanticism and cheer-up-Charlie positivity, and comes collected in releases with equally sunny names like The Yippee EP and The Summer EP. Apparently, it’s a welcome antidote to the hormonal mopiness of modern emo (suggesting today’s kids would rather whistle than whine): Like the similarly lovey-dovey, fellow MySpace success story Owl City, Never Shout Never had an incredibly short run from self-releasing to a major-label bidding war, resulting in two albums—What Is Love and Harmony—released in rapid succession in 2010, as well as Time Travel, the band’s 2011 full-length. A fourth album, Good Times, is slated for 2012.
