Nick Oliveri

Apparently, Nick Oliveri got the memo that he could form his own band and move on after Josh Homme infamously fired him from Queens Of The Stone Age. Oliveri’s second solo release, Death Acoustic, is awfully lacking in punch for a guy who's been telling the UK press that Homme “needs” him back. Whereas Homme recorded a new album with Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones as Them Crooked Vultures, Oliveri is digging back (but not too far) to turn in an acoustic cover album of QOTSA, Dwarves, GG Allin, and Danzig tracks; but his tuneless caterwauling renders the whole thing a mush of treble-heavy guitar and double-tracked barking vocals.
