Artist Nite Jewel

As the female ambassador of chillwave, Ramona Gonzales embodies most of what’s great about the blog-heralded musical movement. Nite Jewel’s main brain sings with a low-key panache often dressed up in loads of reverb, representing a perspective perfectly embodied by the title of her group’s latest EP, Am I Real? Beneath Gonzales is a bed of bloopy, minimal synthesizer psychedelia, canned drums, and deep basslines that underscore the intense lo-fi dreaminess of the entire affair.
