Lurking somewhere between the gruffness of the Dwarves and the self-destructive pop of The Replacements, Twin Cities’ Off With Their Heads plays joyfully obnoxious punk laced with such delicate sentiments as, “I don’t give a fuck about anything.” The band’s excellent 2008 full-length, From The Bottom, was a raucously heartfelt effort with a heavy nod toward fellow Minnesotans Dillinger Four. Last year’s In Desolation, the band’s first for Epitaph, smoothes out much of the act’s earlier crudeness with a slick production polish—for better and for worse. It’s not nearly as catchy as Bottom, though it contains its own fair share of teeth-gnashing attitude set to bittersweet hooks.
