Artist One Eskimo

  • one eskimo

If the name One Eskimo sounds vaguely childish, there’s good reason: the Ellen DeGeneres-approved London quartet’s self-titled debut is big on slight vocals and barely there instrumentation, all mired in enough hazy atmospherics to make it perfect for nap time. Boldly offering a “visual album” companion for its first official release, the band provides trite but ultimately satisfying animation that fits especially well with its music, telling the tale of an Eskimo boy and a Native American girl in love, who are torn apart by red-eyed villains. Like the album, the animation speaks in universal platitudes that might be insulting to discerning tastes, if only those critics could shake the pleasantly groggy feeling it evokes.
