Only Thunder
The five guys in Only Thunder have been kicking around Denver’s punk/hardcore scene for the past decade, and their ’90s anthem-rock sound is no doubt indebted to it. Lower Bounds, the band’s 2008 debut, is a weathered effort from some DIY vets: The vocals are scratchy, Jawbreaker/Hot Water Music-like lamentations on societal ills and personal grievances; the riffs are rumbling and melodic. It’s a matured punk-rock sound with a fuck-off attitude that is as stubborn as it is seasoned.
