oOoOO
Christopher Dexter Greenspan is the San Francisco music-maker behind oOoOO, pronounced “oh.” The band sounds like Coil wandered into a Macbook-shaped opium den—dark and ethereal, with occasional female vocals and deep hip-hop beats. The project began releasing tracks 2010, but got a great deal of buzz on the Internet in 2011 with its witch-house genre association with acts like Salem and a split EP with White Ring. In line with its witch-house comrades, its 2010 self-titled and new Our Loving Is Hurting Us EPs favor atmospheric soundscapes reminiscent of shoegaze with a stern drum machine. Despite clear post-punk and goth influences, the band projects a very modern, almost chemical sound.
