Passion Pit
Passion Pit’s first single, “Sleepyhead,” was a dreamy bit of electro-pop, impossibly dense but perfectly leavened by frontman Michael Angelakos’ high-pitched warble of a voice. It all but guaranteed interest in the band’s debut, Manners, which came loaded with songs to buoy late-night dorm dance parties well past quiet hours. Also buoyed: Passion Pit’s fortunes. The band opened for Muse on its 2010 fall tour and have remixed dozens of artists, including Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Cold War Kids. Tracks from Manners—“Moth’s Wings” and “Sleepyhead,” especially—absolutely owned music placement in 2010, popping up everywhere fromGossip Girl to video game trailers. Luckily for both fans of the band and for ad agencies, the band is hard at work on a new record, reportedly due out later this spring.
