Few musical evolutions have been as fascinating to watch as that of Pataphysics, which began as an unpredictably manic, whimsically “zolo” offshoot of passed-on polka-dotted pranksters Zoms Zoms. Refining the oddball bounce of 2008’s Take A Look Out Your Window, the band sounded laser-focused on last year’s Pam EP, recalling the electro-psych churn of Brian Eno in his “pop” years. Pataphysics’ development has been even more fun to watch live, as frontman Patrick Healy twists, turns, and otherwise contorts himself through the jagged edges of his new new-wave anthems.
