Paul Mooney spent the first half of his career as a writer, creating the popular Homey D. Clown character as head writer for In Living Color and co-writing material for several classic Richard Pryor albums. But it was as a performer on Chappelle’s Show that Mooney became a star in his own right, doing memorable segments like “Ask A Black Dude” and Negrodamus. Chappelle’s Show was an ideal vehicle for Mooney’s sharp, occasionally confrontational style of racial comedy, which is totally unfiltered in his stand-up act. At age 68, Mooney is ballsier than most comics half his age.
