Paula Poundstone

Dressed in her signature suit and delivering conversational, self-deprecating humor about—in the words of her 1990 HBO special—Cats, Cops, And Stuff, Paula Poundstone is the very picture of affability, a family-friendly descendent of observational humorists such as Bill Cosby and Lily Tomlin with a knack for working the crowd. Poundstone bounced back from a 2001 stint in the tabloid spotlight with a Bravo special; a wryly funny and candid memoir, 2006’s There Is Nothing In This Book That I Meant To Say; recurring appearances on NPR’s Wait, Wait...Don’t Tell Me! and Prairie Home Companion; and, in 2009, her first-ever CD, I (Heart) Jokes: Paula Tells Them In Maine. The album captures her doing what she does best: musing on the banalities of life and playfully mocking members of her audience.
