Pete Rock

Pete Rock emerged from the late-’80s/early-‘90s jazz-rap renaissance as one of the genre’s most influential and respected producers. He may be best known for his work with C.L. Smooth, but even before their partnership ended, he had developed a reputation as a producer of the highest order, thanks to his career-resuscitating work for Public Enemy and Run DMC. Rock and Smooth have rejoined sporadically over the years, most recently for 2004’sSoul Survivor II, which proved that time apart did nothing to dull the chemistry of one of rap’s most esteemed duos.
