PJ Harvey
To be a tad over 40 and have bands naming themselves after her albums says a good deal about PJ Harvey’s impact. While newcomers like Uh Huh Her (named for Harvey’s 2004 album) bask in the glow of the breathy singer-songwriter’s impressive career, Harvey has yet to slow, and continues to turn out albums every three or four years that show new wrinkles in her stylistic range. Harvey’s latest album, Let England Shake, pairs her with longtime producer John Parish, a sympathetic multi-instrumentalist who houses Harvey’s haunting anti-war tunes in an appropriately murky atmosphere.
