PJ Harvey And John Parish

To be just shy of 40 and have bands naming themselves after her albums says a good deal about the impact of PJ Harvey. While newcomers like Uh Huh Her, (named for Harvey’s 2004 album) bask in the glow of the breathy singer-songwriter’s impressive career, Harvey has yet to slow, and continues to turn out albums every three or four years that show new wrinkles in her stylistic range. Harvey’s newest album, A Woman A Man Walked By, pairs her with longtime producer John Parish, a sympathetic multi-instrumentalist who adds lots of atmosphere to Harvey’s bruised, sultry anthems.
