Planes Mistaken For Stars
Denver-via-Peoria band Planes Mistaken For Stars cut a furious path during its decade together. Originally formed as an emo outfit downstate in 1997, the group morphed into a searing post-hardcore powerhouse by the time it released its aptly titled second album, Fuck With Fire, in 2001. By that point Planes found its stride, honing a sound built on swirling guitars and Gared O’Donnell’s guttural vocals. But by the time the band released 2006’s Mercy, its members had grown weary of a touring regimen that didn’t seem to be leading to bigger venues. Planes played its “final show” in Denver in early 2008, reunited to play The Fest in Florida in 2009, and now the band is coming back for a hometown reunion.
