Pocahaunted

For Los Angeles' Pocahaunted, every night is Halloween—and it's a funky Halloween at that. The frequently face-painted quintet trades heavily on the "haunted" portion of its name, playing ethereal, dubbed-out psych-rock that swirls wordless female vocals and roller-rink Farfisa around a slackly wound rhythm section. On 2010's Make It Real, the band mines the same reverb-heavy territory as fellow Angelenos Warpaint, but digs deeper into a world-music groove that aligns them with the West Coast's history as a trippy musical melting pot.
