Poetry Marathon Benefit Reading
There are times when the Milwaukee poetry scene might seem confined to drunken scribbles on bar napkins, and spiral notebooks abandoned to a dusty hell under bed frames. But there are plenty of local writers doing the good work of sharing their prose in public. If you don’t believe us, allow the 15-hour Poetry Marathon at Woodland Pattern Book Center to prove you wrong. More than 100 area poets will read their work from 10 a.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday. This will be Woodland Pattern’s 18th year hosting the annual festivities, and all proceeds go toward the bookstore’s various writing workshops, events, and youth literacy programs.
