Poison The Well

Florida metalcore veterans Poison The Well have always left their contemporaries gasping for air in a futile attempt to keep up. The quintet’s new The Tropic Rot is the sonic equivalent of Dick Dale ramming a train through an elephant. Vocalist Jeffery Moreira hurls both his legendary growl and his Helmet-esque croon over filthy surf-styled guitar, textured chords, and PTW’s sledgehammer rhythm section. It’s an encouraging sign that it all soars above the chug-a-lug complacency that currently plagues metalcore.
