Primal Scream

After starting out as a jangly pop band with 1987’s excellent Sonic Flower Groove, Primal Scream has spent the past two decades playing genre hopscotch, skipping from dance-floor jams to Southern boogie to electro-rock. There were, of course, plenty of drugs thrown in to help (or hinder) each transition, but Bobby Gillespie has always had a healthy amount of followers no matter what, both in front of and behind him: Primal Scream’s revolving door has welcomed everyone from Kevin Shields to The Stone Roses’ Mani. The band plays here in support of 2008’s Beautiful Future.
