Artist Propagandhi

Punker-than-thou Canadian quartet Propagandhi isn’t above using MySpace, but its policy in advance of 2009’s Supporting Caste was different than most. Smashing the state came at a cost—that cost being a “small donation to one of three possible activist organizations.” Once a donation was made, the band sent along two advance songs from the record. The band continued its philanthropic rocking by donating all proceeds from the 2010 EP The Recovered to the non-profit Partners In Health. The gestures prove that even this many years into its career, Propagandhi still has plenty of fiery, intelligent passion—though it may have outgrown the raw rage of youth, it’s now in the acerbic, wiser rage of middle age.
