PS I Love You
Beatles reference or no, PS I Love You is one hell of a cloyingly twee band name. Thankfully, the power duo of Paul Saulnier and Benjamin Nelson blast away that upfront treacle with waves of guitar feedback and Saulnier’s pinched and howling Frank Black-isms. The band’s debut full-length, Meet Me At The Muster Station, is noisy and splintered, powered by a filthy crunch and the occasional push toward the dance floor. The minimalist video for single “Facelove” serves as a 2 1/2-minute preview of the PS I Love You live experience: Two dudes, vintage guitar pedals, Nelson’s frantic drumming, and Saulnier laying blazing fretwork over a pedalboard bassline. Though the stormy weather art project Saulnier wears on his head is twee as fuck.
