Psalm One
The only bummer about Chicago rapper Psalm One is waiting for her to follow up 2006’s great debut for Rhymesayers, The Death Of Frequent Flyer. Fans shouldn’t have to wait too long, considering she’s been working hard on a follow-up, allegedly due out soon. Everything else about her work to this point has been exciting, especially her cunning rhyme skills: She’s equally funny, cocky, and frank about growing up as a “chubby girl” in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood and balancing music with her post-college day job working as a chemist. Her latest single, “Juke Me,” combines some of Chicago’s best tripped out beats with a whole lot of “you don’t know me” attitude, resulting in a track that could bring down the house in all sorts of venues.
