Psychedelic Horseshit

Ohio’s Psychedelic Horseshit was formed in 2005, long before the lo-fi movement surged and bloggers coined the awful term “shitgaze.” The trio cheekily embraced the genre title—immortalized on the 2009 EP Shitgaze Anthems—and its prickly, distorted rock became as sought after as the band’s well-documented negative opinions of fellow under-produced acts (most notably Wavves). This year’s release, Acid Tape, is more of the unpolished same, with Matt Whitehurst’s vocals sounding as if he’s calling and singing too-good-to-be-forgotten lyrics into an answering machine.
