Pushmi-Pullyu
Ambient duo Pushmi-Pullyu emits enough different signals to scramble all brains within earshot. On a 2009 split with New Zealand’s The Enright House,Together, John Praw and Corey Murphy carefully unravel a series of throbbing synths and echo-laden melody on the eight-minute “Where The Sidewalk Ends.” On the flipside of that, the pair’s website is streaming a pair of Passion Pit mash-ups, with artists like Riskay and Aesop Rock, that ooze the same party-time cool and bedroom project-feel that Gregg Gillis stuffs into all of his Girl Talk releases. After taking an extended break from performing live (Praw spent a year in Norway), Pushmi is returning to the stage with some definite tweaks to its old formula.
